4/2 to 4/29

Okay, I am once again updating what I've been doing at Access, although it has been about a month since I've posted. Here's what's been going on:

4/2: I went over Pre-Production planning for my Orchestra video and worked on completing my journal for class.

4/3: I filmed Mrs. Chapman, my Orchestra instructor, for my project.

4/4: I captured the B-Roll (footage) from Mrs. Chapman's interview onto Final Cut Pro.

4/7: I filmed and promoted Access TV for a Junior Leadership workshop at the City Chamber Building.

4/8: I did TNT (Tuesday Night Television) and we did "We the People," a government meeting program.

4/9: I added the A-Roll (questions) to the Orchestra video and did some more editing.

4/10: I added Juice Drops, which are backgrounds, to the Orchestra video to accompany the questions for the interview. I also filled out the Producer's form to be able to air the video and it is called "SHS Orchestra."

4/11: I continued work on my "At the Library" program and added logos to the video.

4/15: I did TNT again and did the CG's (Computer Graphics) for "Flower Man."

4/16: I was gone for an Orchestra Large Group Ensemble at State and filmed what went on there for my Orchestra video.

4/18: I captured the Orchestra video footage (B-Roll) I shot for at music contests and put the B-Roll (stock footage) from "At the Library" onto that program.

4/19: I filmed the legislation meeting at the City Chamber Building concerning issues such as education, carbon dioxide from power plants, etc.

4/22: I did TNT for "Health Matters" and ran camera 2. I also showed my brother how to operate the camera and we helped and instructed Girl Scout members to help with the show.

4/23: I captured the B-Roll (footage from music contests) for the Orchestra video. We had some difficulties getting it to capture into Final Cut Pro with the camera I borrowed from the school, but we used a cord from the GL-1 cameras and it finally worked!

4/25: I was not at my internship because I was sick.

And that's about it for the month of April. I still need to get interviews with individual orchestra members and edit and find some music for the Orchestra video. I also need to continue to find stock footage I shot for "At the Library" and continue adding to that. Wish me luck, as there's only a couple more weeks of school left! Thanks for reading!

3/26-4/1

Hi Everyone!

Sorry, it's been a little bit since I last updated, but here is some of what I have been doing for the past week or so.

March 26: I found the B-Roll for the interview with Judy Lilly to put on the timeline in Final Cut Pro for the At the Library program. I was also the technical director and switched for the PSA (Public Service Announcement) from Hope who was talking about the YMCA and events coming up.

March 28: I put stock footage that I shot of the library into the interview with Judy Lilly. I also did more Pre-Production planning for my Orchestra movie.

April 1: On my own, I did some Pre-Production planning for my Orchestra movie and thought of some questions I would ask of Mrs. Chapman during our interview on Thursday.

Well, there's my update. Check back to see what new things I will be doing until the middle of May. Bye for now!

Interning from 1/18/2008-3/24/2008

I have been interning at Community Access Television for a little over two months now. Here, I work on editing footage, coming up with intros and new ideas, shooting footage, participating in TNT (Tuesday Night Television), learning how to produce, and coming up with ideas for my project aimed at giving back to my school.

Towards the beginning of my intern experience, I learned how to capture video clips from a tape to the iMac computers. We work with Final Cut Pro software. I took a Producer's class on January 23rd and on January 30th, I learned how to make a tape log of video shots I would use for editing later on.

During our live shows each Tuesday night from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, we have a studio shoot called Tuesday Night Television (TNT). There, I have learned how to run the cameras, learning the technical terms such as pan, truck, tilt, frame shots, and so on. I have helped to film "Eye on Salina" and learn how to "switch" for "The Flower Man" and "Health Watch." Switching simply means transitioning from one angled shot to another when the director cues you to. I will learn other operations such as interviewing people, directing, running audio and so on as the months progress.

Other events I have helped in have been capturing footage from the Aaron Peck tapes and putting them onto Final Cut Pro, shooting raw footage of the Library for an advertising campaign, filming a "Question and Answer" forum for a Legislation meeting on February 23rd, reviewing shots, and learning different parts that make up the Editing Bay.

I have covered much during the short two months that I have been at Access Television. Currently, on top of learning "tricks" of the trade, I am also working on a project to give back to the school, since they helped set up my intern experience. I am doing a promotion for our school's Orchestra program and it is aimed at young children and their parents to get them interested in the program and seeing what all goes into being in the school orchestra.

I will try to stay updated as much as I can, as I usually meet at my interning place every Wednesday and Friday and sometimes Tuesday nights for TNT. This will continue until about the middle of May.

Thanks for checking out my blog.
